Phil:
Thanks for the update, I am excited to receive the flies as a friend gave me one to use on theYoughiogheny River and that one fly caught fish for days. Quick question regarding the Drake Version. What's the biggest that is available? I am curious to see if you have size 8 or 10 available ? I fish the drakes on Penns Creek in Pennsylvania and they are mutants.

Phil,
This is Alex and we met on Wednesday, 11/2/22. I happened to be at the Provo Riverwalk and Fishing Site off Highway 40 south of the Jordanelle Dam when I ran into you on the bridge with Bob and Dave and shared that I was having no luck on the river even getting a bite.
You were kind enough to share a few of your noseeum flies with me, as well as the predicted "epic" fishing window. We made it back to the river that afternoon during the window and I was able to land my first, second, and third Provo River trout in a span of about 2 hours all following your dry-fly only technique on the noseeums! I wanted to take a moment to say how thankful I am for you taking the time to share your passion for the sport, knowledge of the river, and overall making a fly fishing experience to be remembered by somebody so new to the sport.
Thank you,
Alex Jones

I use your flies all the time and usually purchase from Fish Heads. Your red bodied PMD has been amazing at lunker alley lately. Thanks for always bringing in the fish for me !

Thanks, Phil. 20+ fish on the middle Provo three Sundays in a row. All caught on either a Noseeum or a Mother Shucker. Nothing else worked. I gave a few flies to fishers I met on the river, so hopefully, you'll have a couple of other converts!

thanks Phil. I got the order.
I appreciate having access to your flies -- I have more consistent results with your flies than pretty much any other midge/BWO/PMD patterns. Thanks for making them available.
Hope you are well and enjoying the spring. Look forward to bumping into you on the water.

Thank you sir, as always
A pleasure, and yes your flys are always productive! I’d say I’ve netted over 300 fish on them since coming to Utah in just about every water I’ve fished, including the gorge!

Several days ago on the middle Provo my friend and I watched a gentlemen catch fish while we caught zero fish. We were walking out to our cars when we noticed walking behind us this same gentleman walking out to his car. We stopped and introduced ourselves and the gentleman introduced himself as Phil. He gave us a small slip of paper with the noseeumfly web address. I looked at the website tonight and especially liked how the flies were sectioned into the time of year the flies are oriented.
I would like to spend some time with Phil on the middle Provo at his earliest possible convenience. My name is Brent.
What is the cost for Phil's time? I'd like to focus on the following:

Wow. I'm blown away! I will leave you an amazing review, tag you in every freaking fish I catch from here on out!
I caught 3 more in a matter of minutes tonight during the evening's hatch. You're flies are incredible!
Hope to see you at lunker (6 feet away of course) sometime soon!
Warmly,
Ryan.

FYI, someone on the river where I was fishing gave me one of your PMD flies. I used it and it outfished all other flies I was using! Serendipitous that the fellow gave me one of your flies. Thanks again. Best, Dana

March 11 between noon and 2pm on the Middle Provo. A single gray pullover Mother Shucker. 10 browns, many in the 15-17 inch range. Finally had to change it out with another gray pullover and landed many more! Missed twice that number due to my poor timing. What an amazing fly!! I've just ordered more!

Hi Phil,
Since I met you about a year or so back on the middle Provo and you gave me one of your noseeum's to try, I have to tell you that it has become my go to fly not only in full on BWO seasons but yesterday it was epic during the midge hatch as well. 20+ fish in 2 hours. Just ordered some more. Thanks

Hi Phil,
My buddy Shayne met you on the MP and you shared some flies with him. He then took me and I met you. I ended up purchasing a pack of BWO and was amazed at how the fish loved them. They really are the best flies someone can purchase and use. Thanks!!!

I really appreciate your quick mailing. I got them today. I have a pretty funny story though. Now that I have your other flies I realize you must have sent me a smattering of green drake patterns based on how large they are compared to these flies. Even though there was a PMD hatch at the time I crushed it with the oversized greens. Funny, I thought I was fishing your specialty pmd pattern it worked so well. Maybe it was trout memory from the drake hatch that morning or maybe your flies work so well it doesn't matter what you fish with. Cheers, hope to see you on the water sometime.

Hi Phil,
My name is Kent Spittler. It was a pleasure to meet you yesterday on the middle and I wanted to say thanks for parting with a few of your noseeum bwo's. After fishing them, I definitely want to buy some from you. I had my 3 year old granddaughter with me and she had fun reeling in the fish we caught. Your fly made it an even more special day. Thanks again!

Hey, I've just gotten back into fly fishing and have been predominately fishing the# middle Provo (first couple miles below the damn and above the bridge). On numerous occasions I've watched far more successful fishermen. I have always tried to query them on what they are using for those fickle fish, more times than not I've been told "#noseeum." Based on reading your page I assume you're mostly making your flies for our local fishing on the Provo. I'd be interested in buying flies from your shop and was hoping if I purchased the 24 size pack from you I could possibly mix and match different types within the 24. Is this possible, and if so what would you recommend for the upcoming late fall through spring months? I appreciate your time.
Thanks

I find myself, at times, distracted by fellow fly-fisherman when they are either really good, or really bad. The two seem to always catch my eye, and I find either entertaining. I don’t know why the bad ones are fun to watch, but they are. Now, the really good fly-fisher will hold my attention, sometimes even while the fish are up. I love to watch a tricky fish fooled into taking a fly on tricky water!
Enough rambling; a couple of years ago, while on the #Middle Section of the Provo, I was passing the time with a gentleman that I’d witnessed pulling off some tricky stuff. We had both had a great day, and were in good moods, probably to the chagrin of other less fortunate anglers, because it had been a tough technical day late in the season when the fish are spooky. He and I exchanged pleasantries, and as I was walking off, he asked me if I tied, to which I replied that I did. He then gave me a pattern and said try this. I looked at it and thought he was mad. The fly had only hackle and a minimal thread thorax, no real body, no dubbing, or tail. It confused and amused me, so I put it in one of my boxes and mused over the craziness of the bug. Time passed, I was on the same stretch of river at the same time of year, when the fish started rejecting every pattern I tried to feed them. I found the fly, tied it up, cast it, and a fish slammed it on the first drift. So, I fished that pattern for the remainder of the day, which turned out to be….epic! Needless to say,I became a convert, the pattern is my go to for# PMD’s and #BWO’s, and I am ever amazed at the consistency of the bug. Over the years I had almost convinced myself that I thought like a fish, but have come to realize that I think like a fisherman, and this fly, which defies conventional “fly fishing” logic, has helped realize this. #Phil, (the “noseeum” creator) must truly think like a fish. As it turns out he was the gentleman that gave me the fly that day on the river. I now fish with Phil often on that same stretch of river, fishing that pattern, and laughing with Phil about the effectiveness of the “noseeum” (which, incidentally, still makes little since to me, but that I now swear by).

Hey. I wanted to say thanks for getting your flys to me quickly and even more thanks for the extra ones. I'm sure I'll need em. Just wanted to let you know we landed our first Utah trout on your bugs high up in the #Uintas this weekend. Little brookies, but tough to catch.
Thanks!

After a great fishing experience in 2014, I decided to come to Utah one month early and fish the Utah "Green Drake Hatch" on the middle Provo River and I was not disappointed until it was over. With an unbelievable increase in the river flow rate, the fishing came to a halt for a dry fly fisherman like myself. I then had the task for the next week of trying to find the dry fly that would trigger a strike. After a lot of failed tries, I went back to Old Faithful the "Noseeum" fly. Yesterday, July 24th, I caught 32 fish, 31 of them on yes the size #22 "Noseeum" fly. If you decide to try this fly, all I have to say is "keep a tight line" you will need it.

If you look closely you can see a pmd noseeum in his mouth! between you and i... i have been using it in tons of skinny water and absolutely crushing with it. Ive also been fishing it as a high hackle on a T100 #18 and fishing it as a drake with great results as well.... maybe its presentation? they just work! Ive been seeing drakes on the duschesne and at the pinnacles. hope all is well. im off to florida to stalk some tarpon and snook for a couple weeks.
thanks for taking me under your wing!

I have loved fishing all my life and never really got into fly fishing till last year. Started tying my own flies and did OK, till I started fishing the Middle Provo River, it has to be one of the most technical rivers I have tried to fish, one day you’ll do great the next nothing. Every bend on the river is its own little eco system.
But I have seen guides and other people doing good there (a lot better than me) and there was this 1 guy that I would see there that would just be racking em in, and I’m thinking to my self what is he using? Never got a chance to ask. Then winter set in till January, 2014, warmest winter in Utah, and I found myself back at the Provo trying to learn how to fly fish in the middle of winter and there was the same that same guy pulling in again, I didn’t say anything until about 2 weeks later and I saw him again it was like he had to take a brake from catching em. So I yelled across the river “ WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU USING?? UR KILLEM OVER THERE!! He told me a Mother Shucker, I’d never heard of it.
So I looked it up on my phone really quick and had a D rib back with a tinsel twist that looked close, but it didn’t produce.
I went home that night and looked it up again read the article about it and tied myself a few to try out the next time I went up, and guess what?? BAAAM , I was the guy everyone asked “WHAT HELL ARE YOU USING??’
A couple week later I ran into him again (and forgot he was the one that told me about the Mother Shucker), but I recognized him and asked how he was doing and if he had any luck and if he tried a Mother Shucker? He told me he was the guy that designed it!!!
So being the Rookie that I am!,( I’m 55and still learning) I’m in Fly Fishing Mecca chatting with Mohammad the Profit of the Provo River!!! And he was more than willing to share his knowledge and the river with me, showed me how he reads river and fishes it and even offered me some of his “Fish Candy” I only wish I had the time to stay longer and learn more, but I had to go to work. He gave me one and I looked up NoSeeUmfly.com, once again I was the guy

Just had to say THANKS PHIL!!

My name is Leo Hernandez, from Henderson, Nevada. I have never seen a fly like the Motha Schucka it is a truly amazing dry fly. I have been fishing it on a forward or back cast and sometimes like soft hackle and the fish take it like crazy. I have had guides fishing around me and ask what are you getting them on. The White has been the best color for me in size 22. I can't wait to try it on other rivers as every fly shop should stock them. This fly is even incredible on rainy days so be ready and hold on to your rod as they seem to love it even more on those days.

Hey Phil, Vern here :)
Just wanted to tell you about my epic trip to the #Green last week. At first I had a hard time matching the bugs... There were dark winged duns with a dark bodies coming off big time. Regular bwo's were only semi-successful. Decided to throw on a sz22 med gray noseeum bwo, and... I landed 47, with most being over 17 inches. Caught a few of those on midges, but the noseeum was definitely the go-to fly.
The noseeum doesn't just produce on the Provo! :) I'm not going back to the Green without them...
Thx man! See you on the river.

My name is Steve Harvey and I have been blessed with the Noseeumfly!
It was February 2010 when I met Phil Bair on the Provo River in Utah.
My father and I were fishing a nice run on the Provo River and having a good day. There was this guy down river from us in camo waders and a pullover hoody. Every time I looked down at him he had a fish on! We were holding our own landing a few fish here and there, but the fish he was pulling in were BIG.

I've #guided the Provo River for over nine years now, and the #noseeumfly has become the go-to fly for me for mayfly hatches such as the BWO's and PMD's. I've never seen fish so aggressively seek after a fly like I have with the noseeum. Thanks Phil for sharing your secret's, they have made many good fisherman great!

I was fishing with Justin, who by the way is a great guide and a really great person. It was a most memorable and thoroughly enjoyable spending time on the water with you and Justin!!
I just placed an order for some of your flies and look forward to getting them and fishing with them on streams in Rhode Island and New York. Will keep you posted on my success with fishing with them.

Elderly fisherman hammers trout on the Green during BWO hatch while fishing the renowned noseeum fly developed by legendary tyer and fisherman Phil Bair!!!
It has really performed well Phil. Yesterday there was no hatch of BWOs but was able to catch about 40 magnificent browns and rainbows with your fly. It is the best day of dry fly fishing that I have ever had without there being a hatch.
Hope all is well,

Phil,Went rainbow fishing the other day on the Guadalupe river near San Antonio. Went to one of my favorite fishing holes and after an hour I figured out that they wanted a Blue Dun noseeum. A guide from Oregon who just mover to Texas and a friend of his were fishing across from me. After my sixth fish they gave up and came over to my side and offered me $5.00/fly. I gave them five and we all had a great time catching rainbows. What a great fly, even catches trout in Texas.Keep a tight line,Greg
I must add my endorsement of Phil and his revolutionary flies. I met Phil on the Provo River a couple of years ago the same way so many other people have met him, by asking him how he was catching so many fish. He was immediately friendly and generous with his information, even gave me a couple of flies. Since then I have fished with him many times on the Provo and consistently caught more fish than I used to (though not as many as Phil). Phil's influence has changed the character of fishing the middle Provo. Most the fishermen you meet now either know personally or have heard of Phil. Because of his friendliness and willingness to share information, we are all having more success. The middle Provo seems like a less competitive, more friendly place to fish now. Probably because we are all happier catching more fish. Thanks, Phil

Hi Phil,
We haven't met, though I'm sure I've seen you catching as we frequent the same stretches of river. A few days ago someone showed me your BWO noseeum pattern on the river. I went home and tied up an few and returned yesterday to see how they fished during the stormy afternoon hatch.
Just thought I'd let you know that I had one of my best short afternoons of fishing ever on your pattern in sizes 18-24 with dun, gray and grizzly hackle. Colors didn't even seem to matter, just having an appropriate size on for the hatch floating by. In 2 hours I pulled some 10-12 beautiful browns in 16"+.
Thanks for the great pattern, and for so generously sharing your creation on the river.

I always heard of the person who catches a bunch of fish in one day. Yesterday I was that guy. I was always asking the person catching a bunch of fish, "what are you using?". Yesterday I was that guy to be asked. The mother shucker gave me a day to remember. I'm still new to the fly fishing world and the mother shucker took me to an experienced level. Thank You!

Your pattern worked incredibly well.
"Toward the end of the drake hatch, the trout were getting super selective on the Middle Provo River. Why the time I got there in July 2014, the trout had seen their fair share of real and artificial drakes. I had 4-5 drake patterns with me but were having a tough time hooking them. Most of the time, they would come up to look but reject it. Once I started using Phil's fly, they not only came up to look but actually took the flies. On the day that I started using Phil's flies (it was in the afternoon as I recall), I hooked over 2 dozen fish. Those flies were so good that I tracked Phil down and asked to purchase them."

There is a lot of testimonials about the Mother Shucker through out my website. there are a couple of reason why.
I designed the fly. In addition the fly is a go to Dry Fly for the Provo River right now. Here is a picture of it.
